i am a firm believer, and lover, of the cloth napkin. not only are they eco-friendly, but they also take any meal UP a notch. when my husband (who is even greener than i) suggested we RE-USE our napkins for the next meal, i was horrified. disgusted, even. though i soon realized the truth: sometimes i barely even touch my napkin. so, unless we are feasting on cracked crab, fresh lobster, or a spaghetti dinner (in which case we might need two napkins EACH), i am all for re-using the napkin again . . . IF i can be certain it is mine, that is.

and so was born the personalized napkin ring. now everyone in the family can know WHICH napkin is THEIRS. and the virgos in the house can wipe their mouths in peace.
p.s . . . these were featured in the seattle post newspaper today and you can order yours here.

alas, we are back from our month long journey to new york, vermont, new hampshire, maine, new brunswick, nova scotia, and philadelphia. it’s funny that often the best part about going away, is coming home again. i completely agree with dorothy, “there is no place like home.” even WITH the pile of mail that i need to sort through AND the gross amount of work that i am backed up on . . . still, there is no other place i would rather be.

i am very excited, intrigued, anxious and curious about tonight’s debate between biden and palin. i’m certain it will be quite interesting.
let’s all remember to VOTE.

i love philadelphia. i find it very charming and quaint and lovely.

there was a lot of fabulous work at the clay studio, including the work of my great friend + studio mate
christa assad.
and i saw two MUST SEE exhibits at the philadelphia art museum. one was of
calder jewelry . . .

nova scotian lox purchased and eaten in nova scotia taste SO MUCH better than nova scotian lox purchased and eaten in california. it is creamy and meaty rather than oily and chewy. it is really that different!

this is my favorite type of landscape . . . where the trees look like lollypops from far away and their shadows are so very distinctive.

i
LOVE this old teeny tiny dish that i bought at a flea market in nova scotia. it’s about 2″ in diameter. this dish inspires me to get back into the
studio . . . for i am
so ready to touch clay again. plus i have orders to fill and deadlines piling up behind my back. one more week of holiday and then i will be elbow deep in clay until christmas eve.
