in a pinch.

sometimes you just need a pinch of salt + a dash of pepper. i have had many requests for smaller salt + pepper cellars to put on the dinner table. some people feel funny about leaving salt and pepper out in the open and would rather re-fill them for each meal. these are petite, feel good in the hand, and are easy to pass around the table.

and this is what they look like when the salt + pepper is finished:
you can get a set right here.

friday field trip (from the sketchbook).

frankfurt, germany

2005

i love the way land looks from way up in the sky. landscapes become big seamless quilts, and all of the colors of the fabric seem to match perfectly. sometimes it’s a good idea to step back and see things in a different light and angle. you can really gain a new perspective. and things might even look a little bit better to you.

friday field trip (from the sketchbook).

québec, québec
september 2006

i found this little lamb in a quaint store in québec and was enamoured with it. i love lamb and sheep and pretty much any farm animal . . . actually, pretty much any animal, period. plus this little lamb reminded me of wilma. so i bought it and it now lives on my bedside table and i get to look at it everyday.

go fish.

today marks the 2 year anniversary of my dad’s passing. it seems like a lifetime ago, and yet it feels like i saw him just yesterday. he is very much with me in my dreams + in my thoughts. my dad was an avid fisherman. he would take his boat out every monday, rain or shine, and come back with a bucket full of fish. the first time he took ME fishing with him, i caught a fish and got so scared at the tugging that i threw the entire fishing rod into the lake. i was, maybe, 4 years old. he jokes that it was the last time he ever took me fishing (but of course we continued to fish together for years). and not only could he catch a fish, he could cook them like nobody else. i miss my dad and his amazing fish dinners.

love is in the air.

though everyday should really be valentine’s day, the actually date is just around the corner. we could all use more love in our lives, especially in these dark times of war and despair and disenchantment . . . so spread the word and show some love.

friday field trip (from the sketchbook).

northern spain.
july 2005

spain is my favorite country. i love the richness of the people, the culture, the food, the landscape, the colours, . . . i am 1/4 spanish and every time i visit spain, i feel such a deep connection with the land. almost like i belong there. i hope to someday live in spain, or at least have a house there that i could visit frequently. very frequently.

another smashing start.

READY . . .

AIM . . .

FIRE !!

our clay posse has a news year’s tradition of throwing and destroying our unwanted bodies of work that pile up throughout the year. last year we dropped them out of a 2 story building, and this year we threw them against the outside of our studio wall. what a cathartic and relieving feeling it is. with each toss letting go of negative and dead energy and making room for new and fresh creativity.

i always like to save one shard from everyone as a symbolic remembrance for that year . . .
but bye-bye 2009 . . . and hel-LO 2010.
see video HERE and HERE.

i saw these rings a few months ago at a beautiful store in new york called eli halili jewelry and design. they make gorgeous chunky jewelry using precious metals and gems. it was like being in a candy store and everything looked so yummy.

no comment.

i had a great show at the renegade craft fair this past weekend. i was astounded by the hordes of people that came marching through continually. all. day. long. it was truly amazing. it was also nice to meet so many of you who read this blog, yet never leave a comment ! i used to wonder if there was even anyone OUT there, until i put a counter on the blog. and now that i do know you are there, you really don’t need to comment . . . but it wouldn’t hurt if you did !
