a really big show.

here is some new work i made for the big palo alto clay + glass show which is NEXT WEEKEND (click on the image for a closer peek). i’ve been in the studio working day and night making a lot of new work and also some old standards. i think it is going to be a great show with 150 amazing artists and fun in the sun. for more information, click here, and if you do come out, be sure to stop by for a visit.

so hot.

jw and i went to a wedding in los angeles this weekend where the temperature was in the HUNDREDS. it was really quite unbearable (unless, of course, you were bare . . . which only a few of us were allowed to be). unfortunately, i was wearing a light wool dress, because we didn’t read the fine print to know that it was an outdoors event, nor were we really expecting it to be 105 degrees.

the wedding was held in the backyard of a house (more like a ranch-farm-mansion) right in the middle of studio city. it was a beautiful hidden paradise and there was even a barn and livestock, my virtual dream house.

luckily, there was a swimming pool, and though i was so very tempted to dive in, wading in up to my thighs was sheer heaven.

a sneak peek.

and since it will be summer then, i thought it would be a good idea to add some COLOUR to my work. it’s high time to finally break out of my all-white-mold and splash on some colour . . . well . . . maybe just a hint.

down to the wire.

these are my new-old-rusty-wired treasures from the alameda flea market today. i went in search of some new displays for merchandising my wares at the palo alto clay & glass festival in july. i love that you can find ANYTHING you could possibly need or want at that flea market. i also needed a cow bell for a different purpose (a grand event in august), and i found, what i believe to be, the one-and-only cow bell at the market today ! . . . and it was perfect.

happy mama’s day.

i just finished making this quilt for my mom using some of my dad’s shirts (he passed away earlier this year). though i’m not quite sure how she will take it. maybe it will make her sad, or perhaps it will bring her comfort (hopefully the latter). but for me, it was a very medicinal experience making it . . . . and hopefully it will be mine some day !

THANK YOU to everyone who came to our big sale and made it such a huge success. it was great to see so many old friends and to make so many new friends !!! here is a piece of pizza we had during the weekend. i loved the way it looked on one of josie’s charming plates . . . and now some lucky person out there OWNS this VERY plate !!!!!
