i am VERY EXCITED to announce a workshop that i will be giving in SICILY ! my good friend diva is putting together a slow art retreat on a beautiful island in sicily. i will give a workshop on my approach to sketching and watercolor painting and we will each fill up our own travel sketchbook. NO drawing experience needed. i will prove to you that ANYONE can draw . . . even YOU ! it’s going to be an inspiring week of fun and magic. (you can follow my quick daily sketch practice here).

i’m pleased to reveal the cover of my upcoming book, “France: Inspiration du Jour” (chronicle books). this is my next book which is a compilation of sketches and photos that i have taken during my sojourns in france. this book is very close to my heart and feels incredibly revealing, as i had never intended for anyone to see my personal sketchbook (let alone to actually have it published !?) . . . but i’m very much into stepping out of my comfort zone. this book will be out on may 2nd, but you can pre-order it NOW here. and you can also get a sneak peek of the inside HERE.
exactly ONE year ago on this desk in vermont, i began working on my next book, France: inspiration du jour, and today, on same said desk, i am reviewing the FINAL photo galleys. i love this full circle. we also just finalized the book cover which i am SO excited about . . . it took three months and a lot of determination to get it just right. i can’t wait to share it with you. stay tuned . . .

i never thought i could draw “people” very well, so i decided to just dive in and devote an entire sketchbook to drawing wilma. i know there is some controversy over the 10,000 hours rule, but i believe in it. and for me, it works . . . and isn’t that what matters ?
wilma doing what she does best.
