my studio, my love.

the natural heavenly light in my studio never ceases to amaze me. i never need turn the lights on during the day. every time i walk into my studio, a sense of calm washes over me like a warm ocean wave. my studio, to me, is peace, stillness, inspiration, and comfort . . . it is home.

quiet time.

sometimes in my studio when the stars are aligned, there is a moment when the light is perfect, there is a sense of calm, the silence is profound, and i feel overwhelmed with gratitude. i love my studio.

back to the drawing board.

i’m back in my studio, all of my orders are done, and my inbox is EMPTY ! i am taking this time to reboot and to creatively explore, paint, sew, and just make what i want to make. i’ve been on such a working roller coaster for the past 20 years and i’m looking forward to taking a step back and just being creative rather than just creating. stay tuned to see what develops . . .

bowled over.

i haven’t been in my studio much lately because i’ve been busy working on my BOOK. but i thought i should make just a few things for the holidays and was dying to get my hands dirty. working with clay grounds me, slows me down, and re-sets my buttons. it was so needed.

a happy fall.

today i was IN my studio before 8:00 a.m. ! this is highly unusual for me, as i like to start my day slowly, with lots of tea, a run, piano playing, etc. . . . but today i woke up feeling motivated and full of energy, and then i realized that today is the first day of FALL. this is by far my favorite time of the year. there is just “something” in the air that i so love. and it is my most productive time of the year. THIS fall i am extra busy, mostly with writing my new book (the french sketchbook). i am only doing a minimal amount of clay this season, so it’s going to be a scrawny christmas. if you’re hoping for holiday shopping with me, i highly suggest you shop early this year !

have a good fall.

studio sweet studio . . .

after one month away, it is really nice to be back in my studio. this is definitely my “happy place” where it seems like everything is right with the world and creative possibilities are endless. it is no secret why i spend so much time here. it is my refuge from the world.

the itsy bitsy spider . . .

was living in our new studio in vermont. AND he is the same color as the ladder . . .

we took this as as a sign of good luck and we relocated the spider into the forest.

the studio.

meet our new STUDIO VERMONT ! we are so lucky to have the amazing people in our lives who made this happen. a studio in the middle of a beautiful forest . . . what a dream come true.

and it is the PERFECT office for me, as i’m spending most of my time here working on my new book (the france sketchbook). if you know me, you KNOW that i need complete peace and quiet when i work . . . et voilà.

the cameras are turned . . .

because victoria is usually the one BEHIND the camera, i wanted to share the photo i took of HER and her beautiful dog, lucy, when they came to visit us the other day. seriously, does it get any CUTER ? i think not. i have been cataloging my studio visitors HERE in my studio visitor du jour postings.

bye-bye lucy, come back and visit us ANY TIME !

starting the year out WHITE !

though i do LOVE red brick, it wasn’t working for me in my studio. it was feeling dark and busy. red brick walls are wonderful for a restaurant, a cafe, a home, etc . . . but in a creative environment i need light and calm.

i’ve been wanting to paint my walls white for a while and i finally did it. it has changed the whole aesthetic of my studio. i’m looking forward to starting the new year in my “new” studio. i will reveal the studio side when things are unpacked and in order. i’m still in super slow motion because of my broken foot !

white is right.
